How do I begin?

Traditionally, psychological therapy is conducted on the basis of an agreement or contract between the therapist and client but not everyone wants to go through that process before receiving a reply, in which the ‘one-off e-mail route’ may be your preferred option.

So there are two possible routes for you to choose – either a One-off E-mail route or the Psychological Therapy Agreement route (see below).

One-off (instant) e-mail

1.    Write a description of your problem (500-word maximum).

2.    Send it to me via e-mail and make a card payment of £80 through Paypal.

3. I will send you a 500-word reply within 3-days of receiving notification of your payment and your e-mail.

You are free to organise further assistance should you feel it would be appropriate following receipt of this e-mail.

Psychological Therapy Agreement Route

 therapeutic e-mail or live chat

 1.  Send me an e-mail with a brief outline of the difficulty you would like to explore. Don’t go into too much detail at this stage, a few sentences about yourself and the difficulties you want to explore will be sufficient.

2.    I send you my thoughts about what you have written and possible ways we might work on the issues. There is no charge for this initial response. I will attach my basic Agreement (see sample agreement) to the e-mail and offer you the opportunity to ask me questions before completing it.

3.    Once you have completed the Agreement, send it back to me and you then make a card payment for whatever psychological therapy package you choose via paypal.

4.    When I have received the completed Agreement and notification of your payment, I may ask you some additional questions (see examples below) and following your response you will be sent the first therapeutic e-mail or we arrange the first live therapeutic chat session.

 Example Questions:

·    What has made you decide that now is the right time to gain assistance?

·         What would you say your aims of therapy are or what do you hope to gain from our therapy sessions?

·       What difference/ change would you like to see as a result of our sessions? (What do you think you may need to do differently (how you think/feel/behave, etc.)?

 ·         What have you tried already and how did it help (or not)?

 ·    Is there anything else I should know about you that may help us when working together?

After you have answered these questions and given a background of your difficulties, I may ask for some further information but again there would be no charge for this e-mail.
