Biography

founder of galbraith consultancy, dr. victoria is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, a chartered scientist and an associate fellow of the british psychological society, which means that she is deemed suitably qualified by the british psychological society (bps) and the health professions council to practice as a counselling psychology practitioner. she has over 10-years experience of working in the field of applied psychology. During her training and employment to-date, she has gained considerable knowledge and ability in using the practical application of psychological theory to her work. she has worked within the NHS and the private sector and as a trainer on a BPS-accredited counselling psychology professional training programme. she currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the University of Worcester, where she is course director for 3 masters of science (msc) courses in psychological therapies. she is also a registered practitioner and fellow of the higher education academy.

Within this broad range of work, dr. victoria has experience of working psycho-therapeutically with a wide variety of client difficulties and diagnoses. she has also received her own personal psychological therapy over a period of years and this is still available to her should a personal problem or crisis occur. 

dr. victoria's work includes providing psychological therapy for the effects of childhood sexual abuse; relationship breakdown; domestic violence; major trauma; self-esteem issues; and/or symptoms of psychological disorder such as anxiety and depression, eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. however, she also works with individuals without any specific difficulties who are interested in their own personal development and growth. she works exclusively with adults whereby she builds a collaborative relationship, with the aim of exploring underlying issues to empower individuals or couples to consider change.

as a chartered Counselling psychologist, dr. victoria's aim is to assist individuals to make decisions for themselves , to improve their sense of personal wellbeing and to alleviate distress. her work is concerned with the application of psychological theories and techniques to help people deal with everyday problems associated with life events.

she is committed to awareness raising and to the de-stigmatisation of mental health difficulties, along with having a passion for increasing access to psychological therapies and bringing psychology into the public domain. she is engaged with research and has published several papers as well as being involved with reviewing book proposals for psychology journals and eminent publishing houses, such as Sage Publications.  additionally, she sits on the BPS’ Training Committee for Counselling Psychology. she is passionate about furthering her knowledge and education and is therefore engaged in an msc in applied forensic psychology.

dr. victoria is involved with media workshe has experience of working with broadcasters, journalists, television producers and directors. She can regularly be seen contributing to press items, such as newspaper and magazine features; television and radio broadcasts; and behind-the-scenes providing psychological assessments of television contributors for programme makers. 

she has conducted psychological assessments for the BBC, been a talking head on moonwalking: the true story of michael jackson, katie price & peter andre uncensored, five news live, Radio WM, and also corporate DVD's. she has also featured in a 'careers in counselling psychology' film for the higher education academy and has recently completed a 'wellbeing at work' series for maverick tv which was aired on teachers tv. the series featured panel advice on 'coping with excessive workload', 'dealing with malicious allegations', 'coping with bullying managers' and 'dealing with difficult behaviour'.
